As Egwene and Perrin are kidnapped by the Children of the Light, new visuals from “The Wheel of Time” episode 5 present a bleak picture for them. Amazon’s The Wheel of Time, which is almost halfway through its first season, aired barely two weeks ago, thrusting viewers into author Robert Jordan’s huge fantasy world. Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a member of an order of women who all have the power to access the One Power, leads a wide ensemble of characters in the series. Moiraine has been on the hunt for the Dragon Reborn, a figure with the potential to either unify or destroy the planet.
Season 1 of “The Wheel of Time“ has been speeding through Robert Jordan’s first book, The Eye of the World. Moiraine and her young companions (any of them could be the Dragon Reborn) arrived at Shadar Logoth in episode 2 and became separated. Moiraine, her Warder Lan (Daniel Henney), and unexpected tagalong Nynaeve (Zo Robins) have since caught up with other Aes Sedai members, while Rand (Josha Stradowski) and Mat (Barney Harris) recently got themselves into difficulty when looking for a place to sleep. Finally, for the past few episodes, Egwene (Madeleine Madden) and Perrin (Marcus Rutherford) have been traveling with the Tinkers.
But that’s about to change. The fifth episode of “The Wheel of Time” has a flood of promotional photographs online (via Wheel of Time Wiki). They give hints as to what each group will do in this week’s episode, and it doesn’t appear to be good for everyone. For one thing, the Tinkers will soon encounter the Children of the Light, who, based on one image of Egwene bound to a chair, appear to be the ones kidnapping her and Perrin. Take a look at the photographs below.
Aside from Egwene and Perrin’s dilemma, Moiraine and her other Aes Sedai sisters will remember those who died in the fight of episode 4. The disciples of Logain (lvaro Morte) attacked the Aes Sedai camp in the last edition of The Wheel of Time in the hopes of liberating him. Although they were ultimately defeated, the Aes Sedai’s victory was not without cost.
Additionally, Rand and Mat will be in a totally new place in “The Wheel of Time” episode 5, sticking with creator Rafe Judkins’ promise that the series would travel to new worlds every few episodes. Fans hoping for a quick reunion of the main group may have to wait another week, as it appears that “The Wheel of Time” will be continuing on their separate paths for the time being. Those journeys, however, appear to be highly interesting based on these new photographs.
