Netflix has published a new video for “The Sandman”, providing the first glimpse at Johanna Constantine and Corinthian from the highly anticipated series. While superhero and comic book properties have dominated the big and small screens thanks to the Marvel and DC franchises, Neil Gaiman’s “The Sandman” has taken a long time to make the leap from the page. David S. Goyer has been working on a Sandman feature film for several years, but the project was stalled in development hell. Instead of a cinematic version, Netflix is developing a new live-action original series based on “The Sandman“, with Gaiman serving as a co-executive producer.
“The Sandman” follows the adventures of the Endless, a family that represents strong cosmic notions. The Sandman delves into topics like Death, Desire, Destiny, and Despair to show how Morpheus, a.k.a. Dream, was imprisoned for over a century before resurfacing in current times. Dream, played by Tom Sturridge, will embark on a mission to restore The Dreaming’s world while reconciling with his powerful family after his release. “The Sandman”, a 12-episode Netflix series, will debut this year, bringing Gaiman’s critically acclaimed graphic books to a wider audience.

With the same name, one iteration is from the 18th century, while her great-great-great-granddaughter is from the present. Logan’s Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian, a nightmare who managed to leave The Dreaming, is another significant character presented in the new Sandman teaser. Lucienne is played by Vivienne Acheampong, Death is played by Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Desire is played by Mason Alexander Park, and Doctor Destiny is played by David Thewlis in the Netflix series Sandman.
