Season 2 hints and clues were planted in season 1 according to “Squid Game” creator Hwang Dong-hyuk. “Squid Game”, which Hwang created, wrote, and directed, became a worldwide success and one of Netflix’s most popular shows of all time. The survival thriller centers on a lethal competition in which 456 people from many walks of life compete in a series of terrible children’s games in order to win the grand prize.
Squid Game, starring Lee Jung-Jae, Jung Ho-Yeon, Park Hae-soo, Gong Yoo, and Lee Byung-hun, has become a cultural sensation. Since its premiere in September 2021, Netflix has released an official Squid Game clothing line, popular YouTuber MrBeast has built a real-life Squid Game set, and the series has received multiple awards. Netflix revealed earlier this year that “Squid Game 2” would be released. Hwang recently provided an update on the sequel, revealing that “Squid Game” season 2 could arrive in 2023 or 2024.
Hwang continues the topic about season 2 with IndieWire, teasing that hints and clues were buried throughout Squid Game that could evolve in the second season’s storyline. Hwang says that he didn’t develop “Squid Game” with the purpose of the series continuing beyond season 1, but he did so to provide himself and the audience with ideas for season 2. Season 2 is currently in the early phases of development, according to Hwang. Check out what Hwang had to say about hints and clues throughout the first season of “Squid Game”:
Just in case there is another season, these things could be loose knots. I only currently have a broad storyline. I’m in the process of structuring the story and the new games, and wanting to crystallize them into more detailed ideas.
“Squid Game” season 1 spanned nine frightening, violent, and visually enticing episodes and Hwang worked on it for almost a decade, but he won’t have nearly as much time to finish the second installment. Indeed, Hwang appears to have a clear vision for Season 2, which includes a new set of games as well as the return of Gi-hun and the Front Man. For the time being, “Squid Game” fans can anticipate seeing scattered clues from season 1 come full circle to provide additional insight into season 2’s plot.
“Squid Game” continues to captivate audiences for being so much more than a survival game thriller, as the show investigates how desperation may corrode humanity and whether humans are decent at their heart. “Squid Game” is showing no signs of stopping off. With the introduction of Season 2, Netflix hinted at the possibility of a “Squid Game” universe. Hwang is working on “Squid Game” season 2 as well as a new satire show based on the popularity of “Squid Game”. It’ll be fascinating to watch how the creators of “Squid Game” continue the plot in season 2.
