The “Game of Thrones” spin-off tv show “House of the Dragon” is very secretive about sharing some information regarding the show. But still, there is a lot of information that we can gather. See below all of the information that we know so far about the “House of the Dragon” tv show.

It’s a “Game of Thrones” prequel

The show indeed will be a prequel to “Game of Thrones”, but the events will be set far before the original tv show during the height of the Targaryen rule over Westeros.

The series will focus on the fight for the Iron Throne and struggles regarding the Targaryens as each of them make a claim within the family. As well the House struggles with the insanity that runs through their bloodline. It seems that show will be based on the book “Fire & Blood” that tells the history of the House.

We will see some of the previous locations

Fans will be able to see a comeback of places like King’s Landing, and Dragonstone. Oldtown will also be a part of the “House of the Dragon” tv show. Three major locations will have a comeback, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t see some new places.

We will see new characters

We will see an initial monarch King Viserys Targaryen I, whose death leads to a major power struggle. King’s court consists of trusted hand Otto Hightower and his daughter Alicent, she holds the King’s ear. The King is also accompanied by his a little bit crazy brother Prince Daemon Targaryen – the one who’s riding dragons and is a mighty warrior.

Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the King’s daughter is the first one in line to the throne, but her claim is threatened by her half-brother Aegon II. Other characters will be presented too – Lord Corlys Velaryon, his wife who was passed over as Queen by the Kingdom Princess Rhaenys Velaryon, as well as the former slave Mysaria and the knight Ser Criston Cole.

“House of the Dragon” is based on pre-existing material

“House of the Dragon” story already exists, because the story is based on the tale “A Song Of Ice And Fire” known as the “Dance Of The Dragons”. The story also includes events from The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones and most notably Fire & Blood.

The material that already exists tells the story about two Targaryen half-siblings at war with one another, this event causes the dividing of the Seven Kingdoms into two parts. One part where Daemon Targaryen consequently descending into madness and Aegon III’s succession causing chaos.

The tv show’s budget could be big

“Game of Thrones” spent over $15 million per episode of the final season. No one still doesn’t know how much will the prequel’s budget be, but knowing that the upcoming show will have a lot more dragons, it seems obvious that the budget must be bigger than the previous show spent. And we know that “House of the Dragon” will have 10 episodes in the first season, the show contains more episodes than the “Game of Thrones” had in their final season.
