A new character named Theo (played by Tyroe Muhafidin) wields a shattered blade in an image from “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”.
A new character is revealed in a photograph from “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”. The new series will be Amazon Prime Video’s first step into J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth universe. The Rings of Power is set thousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, during the Second Age of Middle-earth, a time marked by the rise of the dark lord Sauron and the forging of the One Ring, and is led by Star Trek Beyond writers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay as showrunners.
The Rings of Power has been one of the most mysterious, as well as one of the most expensive, projects in recent memory. Amazon is said to have committed a billion dollars to at least five seasons of the show. Amazon provided a look at 23 characters (without their faces) who would appear in Rings of Power earlier this year, including Sauron. Additional looks have revealed that two more known characters from the films, Galadriel (played by Morfydd Clark) and Elrond, are also part of this vast ensemble (played by Robert Aramayo).
Amazon Prime has now released a first look at a brand-new character from the upcoming Lord of the Rings series. An shot from The Rings of Power offers the first full view of actor Tyroe Muhafidin, who was originally cast in an unidentified role but is now confirmed to be playing Theo. He can be seen below wielding a shattered blade that seems familiar. Bronwyn (Nazanin Boniadi), a healer who operates an apothecary in the Southlands, has a new look as well. Take a look at the photographs below:

The first glimpse of Theo was provided in the previous batch of character posters, which featured a hand carrying the same shattered sword as Theo. The fractured sword reminded me of the shards of Narsil shown in the Lord of the Rings films at first glance, but they are not the same steel due to the show’s time. Theo could have instead discovered the hilt of the legendary sword Gurthang, which was shattered in the renowned Middle-earth tale The Children of Hrin.
Theo is just one of several new characters introduced in the series, all of whom will be played by an unknown actor. This is “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”‘s most difficult task: persuading audiences to embark on a new adventure set in an earlier era of Middle Earth, populated with many strange individuals. However, familiar characters such as Galadriel, Sauron, and Elrond, as well as iconic locations such as the Misty Mountains and Khazad-dûm, should put viewers at rest.
