Actress Morfydd Clark, Who Plays Galadriel, Fainted When She Discovered Her Role In “The Rings of Power”

Galadriel in Amazon’s new “The Rings of Power” series, Morfydd Clark, stated she literally fainted upon hearing she had been cast in the Lord of the Rings series.

The Personal History of David Copperfield director Clark revealed to Variety that she learned of her casting as Galadriel at a screening and Q&A for the 2019 film. “I suddenly realized what a big deal it was for me, and I passed out during the Q&A. I was caught by a lovely security guard,” Clark said.

“I knew I was auditioning for an elf but I didn’t know which one,” Clark said. “So me and my sister went mad trying to figure it out. I never dreamed it would be Galadriel.”

In Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings film trilogy, Cate Blanchett won an Oscar for her performance as Galadriel. Although Blanchett hasn’t been contacted yet, according to Clark, she was impressed with how she performed.

“Her performance was such a big part of my life. Those films have gotten me through exams, troubles, teenagehood. She was with me all that time,” Clark said.

On September 1, Prime Video will release the first two episodes of “The Rings of Power.” Fridays at midnight Eastern will feature the final six episodes of Season 1.

In related news, author George R.R. Martin expressed his support for the success of both House of the Dragon and “The Rings of Power,” commenting on their purported “rivalry.”
