No matter your seasonal style, certain summer beauty products are simply nonnegotiable. Obviously, sunscreen is an essential—especially those that wear well under makeup and won’t leave a white cast. But as a proud member of the greasy-girl club, I won’t (and don’t) survive the season without an emergency assortment of oil-combatting setting powder, lots and lots of dry shampoo, and something that helps prevent thigh chafing too.
As for other Glamour editors’ warm weather MVPs? They count bold blush, shimmering eye shadows, and fruit-forward fragrances among their must-haves. So whether you’re oily, dry, always sweaty like me, or someone who refuses to leave the comfort of their AC, we’ve rounded up 21 summer beauty products Glamour editors call their 2023 beach bag essentials.
Scroll on so you don’t have to think twice before hitting the beach, and get ready to screenshot. You (and your tan) can thank us later.

Vacation Classic Lotion SPF 30 Sunscreen
My summer doesn’t emotionally begin until I’ve done two things: Blast “Summertime Sadness” whilst lounging by a body of water, then slather Vacation’s Classic Lotion sunscreen all over myself and anyone else who will allow me the pleasure. Because this sunscreen, to me, is the quintessential summertime scent—which is weird, I know. A sunscreen? Shouldn’t it be a fancy perfume? Probably…but Vacation did release it in fragrance form, proving I’m not alone in how I feel. I can’t believe I’m going to admit this, but sometimes I open my bottle just to sniff it. (Ask my husband; he’s seen me do it.) Even on days I’m not going outside! Once you take a whiff, you’ll understand: The notes of coconut, banana, pool water, pool toy, and swimsuit Lycra make for the most visceral, happy-memory-inducing experience of all time. And yes, it does work exceptionally well as an SPF too—it doesn’t wash off or clog pores, and lasts for hours in the sun. 10/10 recommend. —Danielle Sinay, associate beauty editor

Tom Ford Lip Blush
Once it hits Memorial Day weekend, I know it’s time to break out my Tom Ford Lip Blush. I’m pretty seasonal when it comes to the things I wear and eat—for example, I exclusively drink white wine in the summer and red wine in the winter—and my beauty routine is no exception. I only wear this lip balm during the summer months, when my routine does a 180 to less makeup, dewy finishes, and sun-kissed skin. The balm works like a magic trick; the formula is clear with fancy flecks of gold leaf, but then transforms into a pink-popsicle-like stain personalized to your unique skin pH. It’s lightweight and super hydrating—the perfect juicy lip for summer. —Ariana Yaptangco, senior beauty editor
